DEREKTRO (JAPAN Post - Military)
Defektro is a band characterized by harsh machine produced junk metal
sounds, who have performed together for over 20 years. Formed in Tokyo,
Japan, Defektro, from time to time, comprises a 3 human, many machine noise
unit. The units original members Hirofumi Uchino and Ayako Honda crashed onto
the noise scene in Tokyo in 1995. In 2001 they were joined by Laura Griffiths to
make the present day unit Defektro. Hirofumi Uchino, a futuristic Dr Frankenstien,
is the evil mastermind and father of the machines invented for Defektro. The
sound is produced by the machines, noise instruments and sonic weapons then
sampled, effectively chewed up and spat out for the pleasure of the audience.
Over 30 titled recordings have been released from various record labels around
the world. Internationally Defektro has toured the United States in 2000, Australia
in 2003, Europe in 2007 and Japan in 2009, and continues to perform domestically.

(...) (LAUSANNE Max MSP Buffer Glitch)
(...) aka Nikola Mounoud sound artist, musician, noisician, performer, composer, improviser or whatever you like to call
it (depends largely on your taste). . . . is the moniker of Nikola H. Mounoud. Riding many
musical waves as anywone do, works on the exploration of analog, digital and hybrid feedback
(larsen) using a laptop computer and an analog mixer. A combination that makes a proper
instrument to allows a sharp, precise and free tool as needed and wanted, of course
well hewn from the coal face of improvisation !
Unlike chords, wind and skins of acoustic sound, feedbacks are unstoppable implacable sonic
evolution (as long as electricity is present to feed it, obvioulsy...). The final result is meant to be
played and heard live as well as, time to time, shared over the internet.

KAZEHITO SEKI (JAPAN Noise Acapella)
Kazehito Seki
is a Voiz (Non-FX Voice Noise) performer who seeks for the sharpest sound by running about
between Noise (Abstract / Nerves) and Hardcore (Concrete / Muscle) with no electronic FX but
just a couple of amplified microphones. Kazehito belongs to a particular scene in Japan,
influenced by hardcore music, subculture, and what a western would see as Tokyo's sonic ghetto
culture. Kazehito's approach to the voice as an instrument demonstrates his flexibility, oscillating
between subtle sinewaves and brutal white noise in a microsecond, like so:

Sean Baxter (AUSTRALIA drumkit and percussion)
Sean is an Australian improviser from Melbourne, who is interested in exploring the percussive possibilities of sound. Focusing on the use of extended techniques applied to the conventional drumkit (both acoustically and through the manipulation of membraphonic feedback), he utilises an arsenal of metallic junk and other percussive detritus to expand the sonic palette of the percussion tradition. His performance aesthetic evokes
a variety of sonic practices, ranging from extreme metal and punishing noise to free jazz and the Modernist abstraction of the classical avant garde. He has been at the forefront of the avant garde improvised music scene in Australia since the 90s, performing with such groups as Pateras/Baxter/Brown, bucketrider, Embers and Lazy, and is a voracious collaborator, working with the likes of Robin Fox, Carolyn Connors, Golden Fur, Valerio Tricoli, Tony Buck and Anthea Caddy amongst many others. Since 2000, he has been an organiser and curator for the Make It Up Club, Australia’s longest-running weekly concert series dedicated to avant garde improvised sound.
